Perth Sporting Events & Festivals

A trip to Perth, Western Australia, is not complete without a day spent at one of the many Perth sporting events.

Surf Life Saving Australia holds its championships annually and in 2007, it is at Scarborough Beach. This safe swimming beach for all is a great venue and the championships will be thrilling. Surf at the many Perth beaches as the Perth weather is mild-to-hot all year. Check out the great accommodation at the Perth beaches.

The sparkling Swan River was recently the setting for the annual Red Bull Air Race. This aerial festival includes some dramatic manoeuvres over Perth, WA, and is popular with all aerial buffs.

For white water kayaking and white water rafting, the Avon Descent is a tumultuous race down the Avon and Swan Rivers. Braving the rapids and more than 133 kilometres of white water, the race is supported by many festivals on the local banks.

Sailing is popular with Perth citizens, and with its long Indian Ocean coastline, it is host to many yachting festivals, including the right for the Perth Yacht Club to host the1983 challenge to the America's cup. In 2007, it is a port in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

Perth truly is great for sun, surf, sport and sailing.
